Mentioned in “History of Vermilion Parish, La., Vol. 1”: “One of the first and oldest buildings in Kaplan was built in 1911 and was a combination Eleazar theatre and dance hall which got the name of that area for entertainment. Favorite entertainers at the timewas the Tokojo Serenaders who frrequented the Tokoyo Restaraunt. Their theme song was “I’m Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover.” This building was located at 217 Cushing Avenue. It became Doucet’s Bargain Store and today, after being rebuilt in 1947 houses Charlie’s Furniture Store.”
