1144 Brud Lane: T-Ed Manuel’s place- pic in video of OC & Cherry Chapman: Included in Emily Ardoin’s 2014 thesis “Fais do-do to ‘Hippy Ti-Yo’: Dance Halls of South Louisiana”: The French Casino was previously called ‘Jambalaya’ and ‘Pearsall’s’. It was originally located in the city center of Mamou but was moved in 1969 to the current, more rural location. It is currently serving as storage. The building has a frame construction, a front gabled/pent roof, a removed half round parapet, and concrete pier foundation. The dance floor is composed of wood strips. The bar area is seperate from the dance area. Original bar, stage, ceiling and floor remain. Was the Fais Do Do in Mamou. Hosted cock fights in 1970s. Various other uses including a rock club and video store; shelving remains from video rentals.”
