Emily Ardoin: Apparently Ignace Doucet owned a few bars in a few different towns, including one in St. Martinville (I think – possibly The Buccaneer, which was on the same site as Signorelli’s). Eddie Bienvenu, a friend of my dad’s who lives in the area, said the dance hall was in the brick front building and there was cock fighting on the attached covered patio. I don’t know how easy it will be to see in the photo, but there are angled brick dividers on either side of the entry door. There was no front door on it, and we could see hay bales inside. A handmade security threat sign (deer cameras!) kept me from actually walking up to it and looking inside.http://goo.gl/maps/Zs3Ks
