Roger’s Nite Club

In 1977, 25-year-old Trooper Donald Cleveland was shot and killed outside of Roger’s Nite Club by Donald Prejean. The trooper left behind a wife, a daughter and an infant son. Iberia Parish Sheiff Louis Ackal, who was Cleveland’s acting supervisor at the time said, “He was a great trooper, a kind man and very dedicated.” On Thursday, Louisiana State Police will hold a ceremony to dedicate LA Highway 94 at the Lafayette/St. Martin Parish line as the “Trooper Donald C. Cleveland Memorial Highway.” Cleveland’s son said, “It’s a great honor that after 36 years, they would do this to remember my father.” ...
