My Uncle Earl McElroy and his wife Malvina owned and ran this bar and dance hall for many years. My dad was Uncle Earl’s brother. I can remember my dad sitting behind the bar and my mom waiting tables as we all danced the night away to music by young men we all knew and loved. Many, many great memories as a young girl there.
I am very familiar with this place. As a young man, I was there for many dance nights.
The building is still standing. The location is on Grand Caillou Road, South of Houma, La. just past the Grand Caillou Middle School.
