1940s- Freddie Hanks: Dana Olivier: The Happy Landing, located on Highway 741, Arnaudville (its actually located in Pecaniere). It still stands but is now a Woodmen of the World hall. “It used to be a wood building, then remade with concrete blocks. They stapled numbered tickets to your collar while dancing- they would draw for door prizes after the dance- case of beer, fifth of whiskey, stuff like that. I’d always try not to get my collar stapled- I’d dance away from them and they’d try to catch me.”
Ray Brassieur: The first time I went in there- an older man was looking at me and studying my face. He finally asked in French: “You a (insert Cajun surname)?” I answered “No Sir- Brassieur.” He looked at me again and said: “Oh yeah- the ears.”
Edmund Stelly: “Happy Landing was originally owned by Lekay Lalonde. The building is now home to Woodmen of the World.”

Brings back old memories, use to frequent this establishment in my teenage years. On Saturday nights after dancing at the Southern Club and Raphaels we would finish up at the Happy Landing. What memories!!!!!
LAWRENCE GUIDRY
I remember going with the older folks, watch them dance and drink, this was in the 60’s and early 70’s. I remember an elderly gentleman, who would come in with his walking cane, and when the music would, he would forget about that cane, and really get down. Wonderful memories with Uncle Tav and Aunt Lucille
.

Spent a lot of time there as a kid and young adult!

My Junior (1976) and Senior (1977) prom was in the building on this site before the cinder block building. If Im not mistaken, a Mr. Zerangue operated it. Very nice man.
Keith Lalonde
As a young teenager I would go there and sometimes sing with the bands.
Awesome memories!
