Henri’s
Between the towns of Esterwood and Mermentau stood a wood frame house converted into a dancehall named Henri’s. Louisiana Highway 91 runs south from Hwy 90 just a few miles west of Crowley. As you turn south on La.91, immediately on your left was the swamp pop and modern music dance club called Ray Lees. Just two blocks further south on the same side of the road was Henri’s. I first visited Henri’s with my brother Johnny in 1972. Robert Jardell and the Ozanne Playboys played there quite often. It was a small venue with a bar to your immediate left as you entered, a few tables and a small wood dance floor to your right.
