Judge Roy Bean’s Saloon
Parish: Lafayette
Location: Lafayette
Lafayette restaurant and bar that occasionally had bands play
From owner Earl Hebert’s obituary on his art site: http://mrearlsgallery.com/obit.html
“In 1972, (restauranteur and artist Earl Hebert) conceived and founded another highly successful concept, Judge Roy Beans Saloon, Lafayette’s first singles bar and grill, which is still talked about some thirty five years later.”
Tom Stanley: “I bartended at Judge Roy Bean’s back in the late 1970s and played drums for bands called Roadeo and The Marcus Jamer Band at places like Rimrock and Winchester Saloons, along with Grant St Dance Hall, opening up for The Radiators there once upon a time, and played in a house band for a time at the Banacek Lounge. Trying to find old bandmates – and find out whatever happened to these places over the decades.”

I walked into Judge Roy Beans in 1974 with some much older college friends when I was only 12. Bought my own bourbon and cokes and proceeded to get “hammered”. Blew my guts out in the parking lot. And that started me on the road to ruin…..I mean adulthood. LOL! Fun memories (from what I recall).
