Signorelli’s Club
Status: Closed
Parish: St. Martin
Location: St. Martinville
1717 North Main Street: Included in Emily Ardoin’s 2014 thesis “Fais do-do to ‘Hippy Ti-Yo’: Dance Halls of South Louisiana”: “Signorelli’s was a hall located on the highway outside town that featured swamp pop music. It was built in 1942, became Signorelli’s in 1964, and the closing date is unknown. It is now mixed use- it is a salon, office and bar, and event hall. The building is of frame construction and has a side gabled roof. The dance floor is constructed of wood strips. The bar is contained in a separate room than the dance floor. The building is in good condition but has been heavily altered. Bar space is front converted to a hair salon. Siding replaced. Dance hall space has been altered to an unknown extent.” Ray Charles? early Swamp pop: Marion Martin: then Slicks

Saw Zebra there back in the early 80’s. Seems as thought there was a high profile band that played at Slick’s in the late 70’s. Please reply if you remember

I saw Ray Charles in the early 80’s. The concert was great. He had two bands and his Raylettes. He played for over four hours.

I started going to Signorelli’s and TK’s night club in 64, loved the bands. GG Shinn, Little Bob and the Lolly Pops, TK Hulin, the Coasters. Couldn’t have been any better. The only time I ever wanted to revisit in my life.
