The WELCOME INN was not on 308. It was on what is now 182, old Spanish trail. My parents owned the WELCOME INN. Sal and Elsie Rumore. They owned it from 1952 until 1980. They bought the business from Earnest Robichoux who lived in the house across the street. The house is still there. All of the bars had lots of beer drinking back then. It was not a rough kind of place. No more rough than any bar back then.
The Welcome Inn was sold when my dad went blind. My mom passed in 1976 from a brain tumor and my dad passed in 1989. He then sold The Welcome Inn in 1980. It was turned into an antique store that burned after my dad sold.
My mom made the best burgers ever. Still taste them.
